LUMBERYARD YOUNG PERFORMERS

STUDENTS ENJOY FREE AFTER-SCHOOL WORKSHOPS
WITH EXTENDED GUEST ARTISTS APPEARANCES

at the Catskill Middle School Cafeteria

LUMBERYARD Young Performers is a series of free weekly after-school classes in the performing arts. Offered from September to June at Catskill Middle School, each week students in grades 4-8 from Greene County schools and surrounding areas, are introduced to a variety of performing art forms, giving them a well rounded arts experience. LUMBERYARD is proud to partner with local school districts by filling in the gaps in arts funding for Greene County and support arts enrichment for local school children.

Fall 2019 focused on puppetry, movement, and percussion and Winter-Spring 2020 focused on improvisation/theatre.

Accomplishments to date:  Now in its third year, 150 boys and girls from 7 schools across Greene County and nearby Ulster and Columbia Counties have participated as well as home-schooled children and students with special needs. Classes are held at the Catskill Middle School, which provides the space free of charge.  The public school system coordinates free transporation for elementary students to the Middle School.

With additional investment, LUMBERYARD can expand the curriculum to include additional modules and guest instructors and hire a teaching assistant to accommodate additional students with special needs.
