Arts organizations that are deliberately placing themselves outside the cities can make a transformative social and economic impact. Our 2018 opening weekend brought more than 1,000 visitors to Catskill including those from New York City, Massachusetts and Connecticut who shop, eat, and stay local.
LUMBERYARD today announced that it needs to raise $1 million by the end of the year to continue running its vital performing arts program. LUMBERYARD is the only facility and program in the United States dedicated to providing theater- and dance-makers with technical rehearsals that culminate in out-of-town workshops or premieres.
PLAYBILL: A number of NYC artists will head to the Hudson Valley to develop new work as part of the "Tech Week" residency.
LUMBERYARD Center for Film and Performing Arts today announced that it is bringing REMcycle Productions to Catskill to rent their sound stage for the production of a full-length feature film. LUMBERYARD Center for Film and Performing Arts's summer 2019 season will bring some of New York City's most exciting artists to the organization's state-of-the-art Hudson Valley facility, built just 101 miles from Manhattan to provide a crucial lifeline for the performing arts ecosystem. New American work and the institutions built to present it in NYC are more technologically advanced than ever before; however, there is a critical gap in the system, as artists can no longer transition from studio to theater with only a few days of technical rehearsal, and NYC presenters can't afford to close their doors for extended technical rehearsals.
