Following our May 7 Groundbreaking Celebration, about 150 guests gathered to learn more about LUMBERYARD.
Guests enjoyed wine and delicious food by Hudson-based Talbott & Arding.
A video highlighted some innovative work we’ve presented. It also included interviews by choreographers whose work has greatly benefited from Lumberyard support.
Party performance
Executive Director Adrienne Willis introduced Doug Elkins and his company, doug elkins choreography etc., which performed excerpts from his critically acclaimed Mo(or)town Redux.
The 15-minute piece thrilled the audience; the excitement of what is to come was palpable by everyone.
The future of performing arts
Adrienne welcomed everyone, promising that the video reflects just a taste of what the Hudson Valley can look forward to when Lumberyard officially opens in May 2018.
“The audiences of Catskill, N.Y. will be the first critical eyes on choreography that will shape the future of contemporary performance in the United States,” she said.
Adrienne thanked our Board of Directors and Artistic Advisory Board — many of whom were in attendance — for their support and guidance throughout the relocation process.
She also thanked the people of Catskill, N.Y. and Hudson for their warm welcome.
“We could not be more thrilled to be beginning this adventure with the Hudson Valley community.”
