Sold out party welcomes LUMBERYARD patrons from near and far

From a rousing dance to a captivating puppet show, two contemporary performances drew a crowd to our End of Summer Shindig held last Saturday at Lumberyard in Catskill, N.Y.

The sold out event, which featured excerpts from Jodi Melnick and Steven Reker’s Moment Marigold and Dan Hurlin’s Demolishing Everything With Amazing Speed, connected local patrons with long-time supporters who had travelled from New York and the Washington area to see the works.

“We were thrilled to offer LUMBERYARD partygoers a taste of the works we’ll soon be bringing to Catskill, N.Y.” Executive Director Adrienne Willis said.

“It’s a delight to introduce others to artists like Jodi, Steven and Dan, whose work we’ve previously had the pleasure of previewing at our Rockville facility.”

Jodi and Steven spent two weeks in Rockville fine-tuning Moment Marigold before its 2015 premiere at Brooklyn Academy of Music, popularly known as BAM.

Dan had debuted his piece earlier this summer at Bard College.

Party treats

The talents of several Hudson Valley creatives and entrepreneurs were also a draw.

Two flavours of Cave Mountain Brewing Co. brew were on offer and served personally by Lisa Alinder — one of only three women in New York running craft breweries.

Bluegrass band Buckeye Rooster wowed guests with their sound and charm.

Akemi Hiatt, the co-founder of Hidden Gears in Catskill, N.Y., captured the fête frame by frame.
