Summer at LUMBERYARD kicks off with Ephrat Asherie Dance's work-in-progress showing of UnderScored (working title), a dance theater piece created and performed by members of the company with special guest artists from New York City's underground scene. Inspired by the intergenerational memories of club dancers, UnderScored explores the ever-changing physical landscape of New York City's underground dance community.
The company is led by lauded New York City-based b-girl, dancer, and choreographer Ephrat “Bounce” Asherie, winner of the 2016 Bessie Award Winner for Innovative Achievement in Dance. The company has presented work at The Apollo Theater, Columbia College, Dixon Place, FiraTarrega, Guggenheim Works & Process, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, La MaMa, River to River Festival, New York Live Arts, Summerstage and The Yard, among others.
